Kpop Music Videos
Kpop refers to Korean Popular Music and I currently gaining popularity all over the world and are well known for their colourful performance music videos. The first music video ('View' by SHINee) combine both performance and narrative elements such as dancing, lip sync and images that show a story of how it is difficult it can be to be a celebrity and that they just want to have fun and relax sometimes too.
Abstract Music Video
An Abstract music video are usualy based around one idea or concept and are usually very obscure and rather odd. The peculiar content is an attraction to audiences and draws them in. Successful abstract music video will keep their audience entertained and always looking at the screen. Abstracts videos are known to be used by many genre types and no particular genre or music type in more likely to use them.
Performance Music Videos
Performance music videos focus on the band or artist performing and live or staged performance that may include a dance, lip sync, and instruments being played, or it shows them in a more relaxed and casual environment such as relaxing and socialising with their friends. This style of music video is most popular with rock or indie songs.
Narrative Music Videos
Both of these music videos are narrative music videos as they include a narrative or story that the audience can follow that relate to the lyrics. Many of the narrative videos depict a love story (such as 'I Found' By Amber Run), or make take a stand on social issues, popular examples of this would be 'Take Me To Church' By Hozier and the much more light hearted video 'Gives You Hell' which "is about this asshole, it’s a dude who will never know it’s about him. It's kind of this tongue-in-cheek way of looking at someone you hate, whether it's your mom, for some reason, or it's your teacher at school, or it's your boss at work. It's just someone who makes you struggle, and it's giving them the finger." (Song writer Tyson Ritter)
